The Perinatal Mood Disorders Program is here to help new mothers and families cope with unexpected emotions following birth.  Approximately 70% of new mothers experience "Baby Blues," feelings of anxiousness, irritability and quick mood changes.  Postpartum Depression affects 12-20% of all new mothers and is more devastating and lasts longer than the "blues."

Our program is run by a licensed social worker who havs beenc clinically trained in Perinatal Mood Disorders and offers individual and therapeutic group sessions to educate, support and promote changes toward healthy behavior.

Symptoms of postpartum depression:

Fatigue
Panic attacks
Helplessness
Anger
Terrifying thoughts which involve the baby's health or well being
Anxiety
Guilt
Appetite disturbance
Difficulty sleeping

If you continue to experience these symptoms longer than the usual 2-3 weeks following child birth contact your health care provider.
